Friday 23rd May will be Bedwas Junior School’s annual Charity Day. This year we will be supporting the charity ‘Superschools’, a charity that gives athletes, who are unable to access funding, the chance to take part in sporting competitions. Ex-judo Olympian Karina Bryant will be hosting a sponsored event that will allow children to raise money for the good cause in return for a Judo training session. In addition, lessons will be taught throughout the day about the country and culture of Japan, the birthplace of Judo. These exciting lessons will cover a range of topics including:
- Converting Japanese currency to English;
- Painting Japanese calligraphy;
- Making origami;
- Taking part in a skipping contest;
- Learning about the culture of Japan;
- Making and tasting Japanese cuisine (vegetarian).
Pupils are asked to come to school in casual sportswear so they can take part in this exciting day. Sponsor forms are being sent home today along with this newsletter. Please encourage your child to raise money for this important charity. However, All children will take part in the event regardless of whether or not they raise money.
