Sports day will be held tomorrow, on Friday 20th June. It would be helpful if children could come to school in their sports kits with a school jumper in case the weather is cooler than expected. The weather is currently forecast to be very warm. Please ensure that children have the appropriate sun cream applied before the start of the school day and if possible, bring a hat to protect from the sun.
The morning events will be held on the school playground where pupils will be taking part in numerous group and individual events. Every pupil will be involved in at least two events and it is expected to be a fun packed morning!
The afternoon’s events will be taking place at Bedwas High with a more traditional sports day. The school PTA have very kindly offered to hold a refreshment stand at the High School for those that would like to come and watch. Some seats will be provided for spectators. However, parents and family members may wish to bring their own rugs, fold up chairs etc. There will also be a tug of war event for parents!
The order of events for the afternoon are as follows:
Event 1: Egg and Spoon
Event 2: Beanbag Race
Event 3: Skipping
Event 4: Long Distance
Event 5: Shot Putt
Event 6: Standing Jump
Event 7: Sprint
Event 8: Relay
Sports day will be open for all parents/ carers to come and watch their child compete. The morning session within Bedwas Junior School will start at approximately 9.00am whilst the afternoon’s events will begin as close to 12:30pm as possible. After Sports Day is finished, children will return to school and will be dismissed for the day in the usual manner.
We hope you can all come and watch and cheer on our Bedwas athletes!
