Assemblies – anti bullying

This week, assemblies have focused on our school anti-bullying policy.  Children learnt about the ‘three steps’ which should be used if they encounter unkind behaviour on the school playground or in the classroom.

Step 1: Ask the person why they are being unkind (it could be a misunderstanding and/or gives the opportunity for an apology).  If it continues…

Step 2: Warn them that they will be reported to an adult (this is the final warning).  If it still continues…

Step 3: Tell an adult who will listen and help.

Unfortunately, unkind or ‘bullying’ behaviour is something which we all encounter in our lives.  Our anti-bullying policy encourages the children to develop the strategies to tackle unkind behaviour by themselves.  However, if they do not succeed then it is important that they tell a responsible adult who will resolve the issue on their behalf.
