Yesterday, pupils in Purple, Blue and Red class met Ashley Davies, a para-sport table tennis champion. Ashley was the Welsh and UK number one and was in the top 40 in the world. As well as having the chance to play against Ashley, children also had the opportunity to talk to him about his life. This included discussion about the ‘bad’ choices he made as a teenager which led to an accident which left him disabled. The discussion between Ashley and the children also focused on living with a disability and how it does not prevent him from living a rewarding, enriching life. All pupils were really interested by his life story and asked a range of questions about peer pressure as a teenager, disability and sport.
