As you are probably aware, all children in Wales are required to take part in National tests during the first two weeks of May. This year, children will be taking a reading test, a mathematics test and a numerical reasoning test.
The following link provides information for parents and carers on what the National Tests involve and what the test results can tell you about your child’s learning. http://learning.gov.wales/docs/learningwales/publications/170413-information-for-parents-carers-2-9-en.pdf
Starting from tomorrow afternoon, the school will be offering parent/carer workshops linked to the national tests.
For our first session this week we are going to focus on the following:
- An overview of the National Tests (Reading, Numerical Reasoning and Procedural);
- Looking at a sample of past papers, relevant to your child’s year group;
- Discussion on the reading test and techniques you can use at home to support your child;
- Topics in Mathematics you would like to focus on in future weeks, which you may be unfamiliar with.
If you would like to attend, the sessions will begin at 1:30pm and will last approximately 1 hour.
