Sex and Relationships Education: Years 3 – 6

Starting from next week, the pupils will be taught the ‘sex and relationships’ part of the PSE curriculum. The local authority Healthy Schools team recognised the school’s provision as excellent practice.  The school’s planning and resourcing has been shared across Caerphilly authority for other schools to use.

All teachers will teach their year groups’ lessons from Tuesday 26th – Friday 29th June. The lessons will be delivered in line with the specified curriculum for each year group.

Understandably, parents may feel anxious about the content of the sessions. If so, please contact the school to discuss the lessons with your child’s class teacher.

PTA: Summer Fair – Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who was able to join us for the Summer Fair on Friday afternoon. A very big thank you must go to all members of the PTA who worked so hard to make the event such a success this year. We are thrilled to announce that we raised £641.58!

Well done to the children who took part in the Mini-Enterprise event. The children will be deciding in their classes on how they wish to spend their profits – We will keep you posted on their decisions!

Thank you also to the PTA who provided ice-lollies for the children last week and for also funding the wrist corsages for the year 6 girls in preparation for the Leavers’ party at the beginning of July. The PTA work tirelessly to raise funds for the pupils and as a school we are incredibly grateful for everything they do.

National Tests 2018

Book Day

On Tuesday 14th November, the school will be celebrating Bedwas Book Day. This is always an extremely enjoyable event where the children are encouraged to share their love for reading and their passion for particular authors and books with others. Children are encouraged to dress as their favourite book character and, if possible, bring a copy of the book into school for the day.

To make this year’s book day even more special, we are very pleased to be welcoming the story teller, Daniel Morden, into school. Further details about his work can be found at

To encourage the children to explore the works of Daniel Morden teachers will be sharing his books with classes during the week of Bedwas Book Day. Children will also be able to order copies of his works online if they wish by visiting the web link below:
