Water Bottles

As a precaution, we have shut off the school water fountains. This means that children have to bring a water bottle to school with them.
We have been supplying children with cups of water today but it is safer for each child to bring their own water bottle to school for hygiene reasons.

Coronavirus School Update

Dear Parents and Carers,

We would like to take this opportunity to update you with the situation regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

  • The school continues to follow all advice issued by Public Health, Welsh Government and Local Authority. The school has not been advised to close at this time.
  • Hand washing facilities are well stocked and the children receive constant messages about how to properly wash hands in order to maintain good hygiene.
  • We are monitoring all trips / activities and making decisions on a case by case basis in line with government advice. We will keep parents/ carers informed of any plans to cancel trips or other school activities.
  • We are now preparing to provide work for your children should the school need to close for any length of time. Most work will be added to the online learning platforms which we use such as Purple Mash, My Maths and Hwb. Children will be provided with these log-ons if they do not already have them. We will also endeavour to send some work home that does not need to be completed online.

Whilst this continues to be a difficult and fluid time for us all, I hope this correspondence gives you the assurance that the school is responding appropriately during this period. Until we receive other advice, we will continue to operate a full and normal day (including After School and Extra Curricular clubs), welcoming your children to school every day.

Finally for further updates please refer to the school blog. For further Coronavirus advice please refer to https://phw.nhs.wales/

Coronavirus School Update

We have received a number of calls today regarding the school being closed due to the outbreak of Coronavirus.

Please note that there are no current plans for the school to close. If the school are advised to close this will be shared with parents via the school blog and the Caerphilly County Borough Council website.

We held our joint Eiesteddfod on Friday 28th February in Rhydri village hall. Thanks and well done to all the children for contributing to this event. The entries we received for the Eisteddfod competitions were fantastic and the judges had a very hard time selecting the winners! We would also like to thank the music teachers for bringing together the musicians from both schools so that they could perform together.
