All parents/carers are very welcome to arrange an appointment with Mr. Cook if they would like to discuss their responses in greater detail. For example, those parents who have ticked ‘disagree’ or ‘strongly disagree’ on any sections of the feedback form will be invited into school to discuss their concerns. It was helpful to have the name on the questionnaires so the school can contact the parent/carer, listen to their grievance and hopefully, resolve their complaint.

A high number of parents are unaware of the school’s complaint policy. The policy itself can be located on the school website towards the top of the blog page in the section called ‘school policies’. Please contact the school office if you would like a paper copy or would like to discuss this further.

PTA Copper Trail

Over the next three weeks in class we would like children to donate copper coins (1p & 2ps), which will be stored in a jar in each class. On Tuesday 17th July, children will line up the coppers collected by each class and whichever class has the longest line will be the winners and will receive a prize. The coins collected will be donated to the PTA.

Sex and Relationships Education: Years 3 – 6

Starting from next week, the pupils will be taught the ‘sex and relationships’ part of the PSE curriculum. The local authority Healthy Schools team recognised the school’s provision as excellent practice.  The school’s planning and resourcing has been shared across Caerphilly authority for other schools to use.

All teachers will teach their year groups’ lessons from Tuesday 26th – Friday 29th June. The lessons will be delivered in line with the specified curriculum for each year group.

Understandably, parents may feel anxious about the content of the sessions. If so, please contact the school to discuss the lessons with your child’s class teacher.

PTA: Summer Fair – Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who was able to join us for the Summer Fair on Friday afternoon. A very big thank you must go to all members of the PTA who worked so hard to make the event such a success this year. We are thrilled to announce that we raised £641.58!

Well done to the children who took part in the Mini-Enterprise event. The children will be deciding in their classes on how they wish to spend their profits – We will keep you posted on their decisions!

Thank you also to the PTA who provided ice-lollies for the children last week and for also funding the wrist corsages for the year 6 girls in preparation for the Leavers’ party at the beginning of July. The PTA work tirelessly to raise funds for the pupils and as a school we are incredibly grateful for everything they do.

National Tests 2018

As a school, we would like to say a very big well done to all of the children who sat the national tests this year. We would also like to thank all parents/carers for your support with homework in preparation for the tests.
